About Ms. Burt
Welcome to my website! I am an aspiring teacher, focusing in both English and Journalism. I attended Abilene High School, where I discovered my passion for language arts as Editor-in-Chief of the high school newspaper and Yearbook Assistant. I also participated in Band, Scholars Bowl, Cross Country, National Honor Society, German Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Student Peers Using Responsible Strategies.
I graduated from AHS in 2014 and enrolled at Kansas State University as a creative writing major, only to transfer to the College of Education during my second semester in hopes of sharing my passion for literature and mass communication with Kansas high school students. While at K-State, I have been a part of multiple student organizations, such as Harry Potter Alliance, English Ambassadors, National Society for Collegiate Scholars, and Phi Eta Sigma. I am also currently the newsletter chair of our KNEA chapter, and I have had a handful of articles published in the Abilene Reflector-Chronicle. Although I look forward to teaching high school students, I have enjoyed a great deal of experience with younger children, through my summer job at Abilene Childcare Learning Center, volunteering at Trinity Lutheran Vacation Bible School, and working part-time as a babysitter during the school year. In my free time, I enjoy Star Trek, disc golf, hiking, photography, writing fiction, and exploring the magnificent world of young adult literature. |
